The LRA Show Rewind - Die Hard (1988)

Are you ready to take a trip down memory McClane? Well, we sure hope so because both Miguel and myself are ready to take on terrorists, thieves, mercenaries and a whole bunch of super nerds bent on destroying our way of life. To prepare for this onslaught (and the new film, "A Good Day to Die Hard"), we sat down to go over the entire "Die Hard" franchise and dissect each film one by one starting with the 1988 action classic, "Die Hard". Then as we move on to its sequels we try to battle our way out of an every growing collection of films that seem to forget who John McClane was and why we loved him so much (as well as male pattern baldness). So join us as Talk Hard about this iconic action movie franchise in our latest edition of The LRA Show Rewind! Featured music is from the "Die Hard", "Die Hard with a Vengeance" and "Live Free or Die Hard" soundtracks.

The LRA Show Rewind - Battle Royale (2000)

We are back with yet another rewind episode! This time around we are taking a look at one of the most infamous films to come out of Japan of all time, Battle Royale. Finally being released in the North American market after 12 years, Miguel and myself go over our own personal history with the film, the difficulties facing it back upon its initial release as well as the difficulties encountered when trying to obtain a copy of the film over the years and our general thoughts on what we feel has helped the film become one of the biggest cult hits of all time. Join us for our extended look at what we consider to be one of the best and most influential films ever made in this very special episode of The LRA Show Rewind. Featured music is from the "Battle Royale" motion picture soundtrack.

The LRA Show Rewind - Jurassic Park

An episode 65 million years in the making, we journey to the famed island of Isla Nublar off the coast of Costa Rica to experience the infamous park as part of the celebration for the arrival of the Jurassic Park Trilogy on Blu-ray. While on tour we find some time to discuss the particulars of one of the biggest films of all time, the original Jurassic Park as well as its two sequels, The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3. Things of course didn't go quite according to plan during our stay at the park and despite our losses we made it back in one piece thankfully. We also have a surprise guest joining us for this episode that long time listeners will enjoy hearing again after his long hiatus from the show. So come join us on our adventure and learn a thing or two about one of the biggest film franchises of all time. Featured music is from the "Jurassic Park" motion picture soundtrack.

The LRA Show Rewind - The Thing (1982)

Trust is a hard thing to come by for this rewind episode as we journey to the infamous U.S. Outpost 31 in Antarctica where we settle down and talk about one of my favorite horror films of all time, John Carpenter's The Thing. It doesn't take long for paranoia to sink in as we struggle to survive and stay on point as we delve into some of the history for the film with the novella it is based on, the original 1951 version The Thing From Another World, give our impressions on the 1982 film itself and discuss what we think has made it prevail as a horror classic almost 30 years after its initial release. While recording we did encounter a few technical difficulties as well so we do apologize in advance for any audio issues that are present. Featured music is from "The Thing (1982)" motion picture soundtrack.

The LRA Show Rewind - Episode 2

Join us on our journey into the past as we look back upon the seminal barbarian series that not only set the standard for all other barbarian films that came after it but was also the launching pad for one of the world's top action stars of all time, the original 1982 Conan the Barbarian! We cover the history of the film, what we feel has made it hold up so well over time, it's 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer and give some insights into its production from the director's vision of the franchise as a trilogy and finally how and why that planned trilogy never came to be. Plus discover how exactly the 1997 Kevin Sorbo failure Kull the Conqueror fits into this topic. So get ready for a whole lot of Conan cause as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say, I love it! Ha Ha! Featured music is from the 1982 "Conan the Barbarian" motion picture soundtrack.

The LRA Show - Rewind Ep. 1

Welcome to our very first Rewind episode! On occasion we here at The LRA Show like to take a break (I know, how dare we right?) and in place of our normal episode we have put together a compilation of sorts with clips taken from some of our older episodes from either The LRA Show or the now inactive Home and Theater podcast and splice them together. In order to keep this semi-relevant and worth your while we have chosen a handful of segments dealing with films that have some sort of bearing at this time. The films we have for you for this episode include the 1980's horror/comedy Fright Night, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and the 2010 remake True Grit. Music featured is "Back in Time" by Huey Lewis & The News and "Cheer Down" by George Harrison.
