Fast Forward: The Help - Trailer Breakdown

Looking ahead...

Release Date: August 12, 2011

Emma Stone's career post Easy A is taking off like a rocket. She is quite literally THE hot stuff in Hollywood at the moment with her role in the upcoming Spider-man reboot along with 4 other projects underway. I would have never guessed that her next role though would be in a film of this type, a period piece dealing with a not too popular era from our country's past. While the trailer gives off a vibe similar to those feel good films where an oppressed few (the maids in this case) go up against an enemy (the people of Jackson, Mississippi circa 1962) and triumph against all odds. I really question whether or not we need a film covering such well traveled territory unless it brings something new to the table.

Fast Forward - Bridesmaids Trailer Breakdown

Looking ahead...

BRIDESMAIDS

Release Date: May 13, 2011

This coming summer movie lineup just got a whole lot brighter. I had heard about Bridesmaids from other news sites in the past few months but hardly knew anything about it until now. The trailer was just released yesterday (meaning you will start seeing it in theaters this coming weekend) and after watching it I couldn't be more excited for it. This is a feature film sophmore effort from director Paul Feig whoms other film is better left not mentioned. You will see the name Judd Apatow and other films he has been involved with such as Knocked Up and 40 Year Old Virgin tossed around liberally in this films advertisements. And let's not forget this is the first film in a very long time to have such a large cast of women as the primary actors in a comedy, which is something to be celebrated all on its own due to its rarity (most all female casts are in dramas). While those are all noteworthy points to make I believe this film has got a lot more going for it than that.

Fast Forward - Red Riding Hood Trailer Breakdown

Looking ahead...

Release Date: March 11, 2011

The classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood is coming to the big screen in a couple of months in a brand spanking new adaptation from the director Catherine Hardwicke and a new trailer for it has just hit. She is the same person that gave the amazing first part to the annoying itch of a film series known as Twilight. After completely destroying the myth and coolness of Vampires she now has her sights set on the werewolf mythology. This is one of the strangest (tonally) trailers I have seen in quite some time. It is really difficult to discern what this is supposed to be, it looks like a standard horror film at first with the spooky atmosphere and quick clips of people running for their lives during some kind of attack on their village. Then we get this really out of place montage played against disco rock music that is completely ridiculous and doesn't match any of the imagery.

Paul - Fast Forward Preview

Looking ahead...

Release Date: March 18, 2011

Pegg & Frost with their Alien counterpart Paul.

I have been waiting for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to reunite for almost 4 years now, man...has it really been that long since Hot Fuzz? In any case the wait is finally over or should I say it will soon be over because their new film together "Paul" is just around the corner. However, as happy as I am to have them back together I would be remiss not to mention my issues with what is seen in the trailer. This is of course all based on what is seen in the trailer (located below) but I believe that what is shown here is pretty telling of what the finished product will resemble.

Burlesque - Fast Forward Preview

Release Date: November 24, 2010

Burlesque is the new film from director Steven Antin due out this coming holiday season. It is the story of a down and out owner of a lounge whom finds a bright shimmering star to bring the faltering venue back to it's feet. That down and out lounge owner is played by MIA actress Cher with the new star of the show played by singer Christina Aguilera. From the looks of the trailer it seems to share a lot of inspirations from the old cliche of a small town girl that comes to Hollywood to make something of herself and her struggles on the way to the top.

Suckerpunch - Fast Forward Preview

 Release Date: March 25, 2011

Director Zack Snyder is winning me over with each and every new film he does (although the jury is still out on "Legend of the Guardians"). "Dawn of the Dead" was a better update to the classic than anyone thought it would be, "300" showed that he could deliver some amazing visuals, "Watchmen"  ended up being one of my favorite movies of last year and showed that the man was already maturing into his own. Now with "Suckerpunch", his first attempt at an original story not taken or adapted from any existing material I believe he is giving fanboys something new to drool over. I am very much a sucker (pun very much intended) for women kicking ass and women in uncomfortable looking clothes that they perform said ass kicking in but the man has taken it to the next level. To say I can't wait for this film is an understatement, Zack keep up the good work there buddy, I will be there opening day to gladly fork over my $10. Check out the trailer in the link below and I dare you to not want to watch it a second time immediately.
