Backward Compatible - Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Ep. 6

Welcome to Backward Compatible, the place where old videogames become new again. Join us as we playthrough a select older videogame in an episodic format and give our impressions as we go. For this installment we have chosen the Oddworld Inhabitants game Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. The last game developed by the infamous studio, Stranger's Wrath was originally an Xbox exclusive and despite receiving rave reviews upon release was a financial disaster but we can now enjoy it on multiple platforms in a new HD remaster which is the focus of this playthrough.

Not only can you hear what we have to say but now you can actually see our playthroughs themselves by visiting my youtube channel Gaming with Dweavis and my counterpart's channel at Madcap888. Listen to the podcast and watch our actual playthroughs after the break.

Bits and Flicks - 2/18/17

Hello and welcome to Bits and Flicks! This episode of Bits we got some new releases for you including Sniper Elite 4, Halo Wars 2 and For Honor as well as a bit of ranting and raving over the public being allowed into E3 this year along with our thoughts on the death of Steams Project Greenlight. But then we have some serious Resident Evil 7 talk since Madcap has fixed his PC problems (sort of) and is able to finally weigh in with his thoughts on the game. I then give my 2 cents on the game as a whole after finishing it as well as whether or not the For Honor beta sold me on the game at all.

Then for Flicks in trailers we have some lost ancient tribes, pirates, martial arts and Arnold Schwarzenegger looking for an apology. I give an updated on some recently cancelled TV shows that might hit a soft spot or two before heading into your entertainment news which involves a certain comic book character losing its director, the fate of Clerks 3, a new TV series based off the videogame series Castlevania and yet another departure from the Doctor Who series. After I have my reviews for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, The LEGO Batman Movie and the sequel to everyones favorite franchise to hate Fifty Shades Darker. Bits and Flicks - 12/18/16

Hello and welcome to Bits and Flicks! As tend to happen at the end of the year both video game news and new releases are fairly light leaving only a handful of topics to cover such as Ubisoft's continued trend of making their single player games online only with their upcoming title For Honor and some extremely retro news regarding a real life new release for the Super Nintendo game console, yes you read that right. Finally we go into what we've been playing and while we have been playing a lot not much of it is all that new with me giving my thoughts on the third and final update to the Resident Evil 7 demo as well as some deep thoughts on how the 2D stealth action game Mark of the Ninja ended and Madcap once again delving into the worlds of Dragon Quest and Pokemon.

Then in Flicks this weeks trailers are full of ups, downs, family, babes and a sequel to a 30 year old movie with the latest Fast and Furious trailer as well as that teaser for Blade Runner 2049. Then in your entertainment news we give you the skinny on the latest Dragon Ball Z anime to hit North American shores as well as some official casting news for that pesky Star Trek Discovery including an official announcement on who will be playing the lead character. Finally in what we've been watching Jake busts out his spreadsheet for all the possible suspects in the Scream series and I keep things rolling with my reviews of War Dogs, Alice Through the Looking Glass and the latest Netflix original film Spectral. All that and much more in this weeks Bits and Flicks!

Now Showing - Rogue One

Hello and welcome to another episode of Now Showing! For this episode I review the Star Wars spin-off story Rogue One. Join me as I go over what a monumental shift in the Star Wars feature film franchise this is and how it impacts not only the film directly after it but the entirety of the Star Wars galaxy as whole. As usual there is a non-spoiler section before delving headfirst into spoiler territory and then I wrap it all up with a few quick words on those reshoots and how they tie in to the final film edit.

Bits and Flicks - 12/7/16

Hello and welcome to Bits and Flicks! After we cover the free consoles games for the month of December we cover some upcoming releases such as the head scratcher of a game Bethesda Pinball which promises to fulfill all your Fallout and Elder Scroll pinballing needs, Square-Enix's flagship title of the year Final Fantasy 15 and Stardew Valley finally coming to consoles. Then in news there is some interesting stuff coming out of Nintendo including a partnership with a popular theme park (betcha can't guess which one?) and a ton of announcements coming out of Sony's Playstation Experience such as the surprise announcement of The Last of Us 2. Finally in what we've been playing Madcap gives some updates on his long life quest to play (and maybe complete) Dragon Quest Builders and Pokemon: Sun and Moon while I give my impressions on the long awaited Foundation update to No Man's Sky and then travel back in time to play a Star Wars game that has suddenly become relevant again..

Then in Flicks we have an eclectic assortment of trailers for you with the new Guardians of the Galaxy 2 trailer and the polarizing Tom Cruise action catastrophe in the making The Mummy. In the entertainment news department we are kind of light with a semi-confirmed casting announcement for the new Star Trek series and the possibility for more Ghostbusters movies but we make up for it with a ton of movie reviews. While Jake dives deeper into the Scream TV series I give a series of reviews for films such as Hell or High Water, Warcraft, Sing Street and the Brad Pitt WW2 thriller Allied. All that and much more in this weeks Bits and Flicks!

Bits and Flicks - 11/26/16

Hello and welcome to Bits and Flicks! For this episode we are pretty light on news and new release information aside from all the usual big holiday sequels coming out but we have plenty to talk about with what we've been playing. I start us off with the episodic story driven game Life is Strange where you play a young girl struggling with her newfound ability to rewind time and then give some quick thoughts on the action/stealth game Mark of the Ninja. Then Madcap reveals his extreme obsession with the Minecraft-like Dragon Quest Builders as he confesses to already dropping over 50 hours into. But the real meat comes in the form of the highly anticipated release of Pokemon Sun and Moon where Madcap explains his conflicted emotions while discovering all the old and new elements brought into play.

Then in Flicks we have some rather big trailers to go over including the much anticipated first look at the live action Ghost in the Shell movie and the visually stunning trailer for Luc Besson's new sci-fi flick Valerian. In the news section we cover a couple of huge announcements such as legendary animation director Hayao Miyazaki coming out of retirement and the idea of the BBC wanting to reboot Dr. Who from the ground up. Lastly we wrap things up with Jake's thoughts on the MTV Scream series and I give my review for the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. All that and much more in this weeks Bits and Flicks!
