This list is in no particular order. 

These are just some of my favorite films that Bill Paxton, the actor and one of the stars of the new film Mean Dreams has been in over the years that I enjoyed either based solely on their performance or it was just a generally well made and enjoyable film that they happened to part of in a supporting capacity.

Bill Paxton was an 80's icon for me. He may not have been the leading man in very man films but every single film he was in he made an undeniable impression. If he wasn't taunting Arnold Schwarzenegger in the first Terminator he was crying game over in Aliens, but the most fascinating thing about the man was his ability to play obnoxiously cocky idiots and make them likeable. Take for instance his small but very memorable role in True Lies as the sleazy playboy used cars salesman whose personality should make us despise him but in fact we love the guy for just how deliciously sleazy and pathetic he is. But Paxton was also a gifted filmmaker with his directorial debut Frailty being both a haunting look at a family torn apart by a unique set of circumstances and also delivering a remarkable twist that would make M. Night Shyamalan envious. Bill Paxton was and always will be fondly remembered for all the fantastic characters he provided to us and these are the films I will always think of first when recalling his extensive and robust body of work both in front and behind the camera.

Welcome to Backward Compatible, the place where old videogames become new again. Join us as we playthrough a select older videogame in an episodic format and give our impressions as we go. For this installment we have chosen the Oddworld Inhabitants game Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. The last game developed by the infamous studio, Stranger's Wrath was originally an Xbox exclusive and despite receiving rave reviews upon release was a financial disaster but we can now enjoy it on multiple platforms in a new HD remaster which is the focus of this playthrough.

Bits and Flicks - 2/28/17

Hello and welcome to Bits and Flicks! This episode of we have quite the line up for you with plenty Nintendo Switch news, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wild Lands, Horizon Zero Dawn, the latest Pokemon Go update and of course some more Resident Evil 7 action with an update from Madcap on his progress as well as my thoughts on my full Madhouse playthrough.

"A Cure for Wellness" Review: A Visual Work of Art That Lacks Any Real Substance

It's a rare thing when a major film studio hands over gobs of cash to an established filmmaker and lets them do whatever they want. Usually only heavy weights such as Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan or Robert Zemeckis can lay claim to such majestic treatment. But director Gore Verbinski can now be added to that esteemed list of auteur's as his latest film A Cure for Wellness can only be seen as a project that was made solely for the benefit of the filmmaker himself as it really carries little significance beyond being a canvas for the man to explore a different side of creative self that was clearly never meant to turn much of a profit nor gain much of a following outside those who love film for the craft itself. "Get Out" Review: A Surprisingly Insightful & Sadistically Satiric Statement on Race Relations in America

There are a lot of different comparisons that can be made between first time director Jordan Peele's Get Out and other films such as Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Meet the Parents and Stepford Wives but doing so would only distract from the major accomplishment here. There are a lot of films out there that deal with the racial conflicts that sadly still exist in our world but none of them come within a mile of the social commentary explored in this biting satire cleverly disguised as a horror film. While many might not agree with the statement being made here it is near impossible to dismiss the near flawless execution by its creator. Read the full review after the break.

"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" Review: We Can Only Hope That This is Indeed the Final Chapter

It has become increasingly difficult to keep track of what is happening in this franchise let alone differentiating them from one another. The first two films (in hindsight mind you) stand out as the most cohesive from a story perspective but as soon as we get to the third film (Extinction) things start to get muddled real fast. The confusion is only compounded by revelations made in the next two entries (Afterlife and Retribution) where it is readily apparent that events from each previous installment are either rewritten or otherwise forgotten about all together. Now we have what is labeled as "The Final Chapter" which by all horror movie accounts means absolutely nothing but we can at least hope this is the one promise this series has made that it will actually make good on. Bits and Flicks - 2/18/17

Hello and welcome to Bits and Flicks! This episode of Bits we got some new releases for you including Sniper Elite 4, Halo Wars 2 and For Honor as well as a bit of ranting and raving over the public being allowed into E3 this year along with our thoughts on the death of Steams Project Greenlight. But then we have some serious Resident Evil 7 talk since Madcap has fixed his PC problems (sort of) and is able to finally weigh in with his thoughts on the game. I then give my 2 cents on the game as a whole after finishing it as well as whether or not the For Honor beta sold me on the game at all.

Then for Flicks in trailers we have some lost ancient tribes, pirates, martial arts and Arnold Schwarzenegger looking for an apology. I give an updated on some recently cancelled TV shows that might hit a soft spot or two before heading into your entertainment news which involves a certain comic book character losing its director, the fate of Clerks 3, a new TV series based off the videogame series Castlevania and yet another departure from the Doctor Who series. After I have my reviews for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, The LEGO Batman Movie and the sequel to everyones favorite franchise to hate Fifty Shades Darker. All that and more in this episode of Bits and Flicks!
