Tractor Tire Award of the Week - The Green Hornet

An ongoing documentation of missing trailer scenes.

Have you ever watched a trailer and had that one scene, that one shot that made you go "Wow, that was cool!"? Or maybe there was something you saw that stuck with you, something that for some reason was in the back of your head and despite how insignificant it was you were waiting for it to show up in the final cut of the film. But when you watched the movie that scene was nowhere to be found. Well, that is what the Tractor Tire Award of the Week is all about. We try to track down those scenes that didn't make it into the final version of the film and make sense of them. Where in the film was it supposed to be? Why might it have been cut? We may not always have the answers for you but at least you will have your piece of mind and know that you aren't crazy. So, this weeks award goes to The Green Hornet!

Apparently she didn't want that drink after all...

This one was pretty easy to locate and even easier to see why it might have been cut. Early on in the film just after Britt gets control of the newspaper there is a scene where he hires on his new temp secretary Lenore. After ogling her a bit there is a quick cut into his office where he is interviewing her (hitting on her) with Kato there taking notes. Well, to anyone with a trained eye that has seen the trailer you might have noticed a couple quick shots of Britt offering someone a drink from his extensive collection of fine wines.

Well friends, I am here to tell you that this looks as though it was supposed to be the lead up to that interview he has with Lenore where that quick cut happens. You clearly see a blonde woman in a white dress (the same Lenore wears at the interview) standing there and Britt (wearing the same clothes he has on during that interview as well) opening up that case and offering up some drinks. This is not an essential scene, it isn't even something that stands out in the trailer. I guess if they were going to pick a scene to drop at the last second it could have been much worse.
