Tractor Tire Award of the Week - Men in Black 3

Have you ever watched a trailer and had that one scene, that one shot that made you go "Wow, that was cool!"? Or maybe there was something you saw that stuck with you, something that for some reason was in the back of your head and despite how insignificant it was you were waiting for it to show up in the final cut of the film. But when you watched the movie that scene was nowhere to be found or has been altered in a significant way. Well, that is what the Tractor Tire Award of the Week is all about. We try to track down those scenes that didn't make it into the final version of the film and make sense of them. Where in the film was it supposed to be? Why might it have been cut? Why has it been changed? We may not always have the answers for you but at least you will have your piece of mind and know that you aren't crazy. So, this weeks award goes to Men in Black 3!

Cut Scene #1-A
Who is this guy?

Cut Scene #1-B
Better yet, who is this guy?

I am surprised that there weren't more scenes from the trailers missing in the final cut of the film, but this one is still a pretty major one. We see J and K approach some punk who is tagging a wall and begin to ask him questions. But when the punk turns around and answers he is told that they weren't talking to him, but instead to the green dude on the wall behind him. The green dude (obviously an alien) then starts to mouth off to the punk. First of all, it appears this was a scene leading up to the Chinese Restaurant shoot out where they are gathering information. The only reason I figure that is where this scene goes is simply because after the Chinese Restaurant scene, J and K are never together again until the time travel stuff happens. So, was this scene really necessary? I don't think so. Considering how insignificant that restaurant scene is, I don't think we needed a lot of build up to it. While the little graffiti alien dude is kinda neat, he isn't worth all that extra time the scene would have probably ate up. Overall I think this was a decent cut that won't really be missed in the end.
